Going through Black Electorates website I saw that Project 21 (code named: Project Sambo) is demanding Toyota apologize for subsidizing a speech Louis Farrakhan gave at the 2005 annual conference held by Rainbow/PUSH Coalition. Now if you don’t know Rainbow/PUSH is Jesse Jackson’s organization and Project Sambo is against organizations that stand for the advancement of Blacks.
Now Toyota was of course was a platinum sponsor; meaning they donated about $100,000 dollars, but that is beside the point. They (sambos) clam that Toyota made a big mistake “supporting the likes of Farrakhan and Jackson”, part of a statement made by Project Sambo member Kevin Martin. Farrakhan and Jackson both have major support in the Black community. If you break it down Farrakhan has roughly 88 – 89 percent support from Black America and Jackson shockingly has only 85 – 86 percent. While those individuals or organizations like Project 21 only commands less than 3 or 4 percent of the support from Black America. Their lack of support is mostly due to the fact if you were to poll Black America on their knowledge of this organizations existence there would be an over whelming “who are they?” If they were really recognized by those they claim to represent maybe they’d get about 10 percent of Black support.
